FORMULA One Stock Car racing driver James Lund, from Gisburn, stormed to victory at the Birmingham Wheels Speedway when he won three out of four races.

The 22-year-old, racing the Kramer Plant, V8 Chevrolet-powered race car, drove consistently all night, and as well as recording the fastest lap of the event, he also recorded his first career Grand Final.

Lund's father, John, also won the Grand Final race at the Belle Vue Speedway, Manchester, the previous week. This was John's 216th Grand Final victory in a career that spans over 30 years.

Looking in the history books, you would have to go back to 1963, to the days of Team Wardropper, to find the last time a father and son team won consecutive Grand Finals John will now be preparing for the World Championship at the Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn, in mid-September as he competes for his ninth World Championship title, and with a row five start and considering his latest form, John is tipped be on top of the rostrum.
