"Two-nil to the referee" was sung with gusto by most of us under the fantastic new roof on the Sophia Khan terrace at the end of the match on Saturday and for good reason.

Darren Drysdale, Saturday's match referee, either had a blip on an otherwise sparkling career so far, or more than likely, he is the most inept excuse for a referee in the whole of the Football League.

Don't get me wrong, Stanley did inflict a fair portion of the damage on themselves with the defence in slow motion for the first goal and then "Evil" sent off within minutes of coming on the pitch for an alleged stamp.

But the dismissal of Branch was a shocker with a YTS linesman and a failing ref joining forces to scupper any chances of the Reds getting back into the game.

The best football played by the Reds was after we had gone down to 10 men with the Posh boys on the back foot and Roscoe Dsane and Rommy Boco linking up with pace that looks promising for the future.

A definite penalty for the Reds was, of course, missed by the limp Drysdale, and an uncharacteristic miss from Paul Mullin summed up our day.

It was, however, just one day, and there are still 100-plus points to play for with the fantastic king Kenny Arthur between the sticks and one or two players on their way back from injury. All is very far from lost at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

Now is the time for us to stand together and be counted. The club has launched an excellent looking scheme, the Stanley Legends, and cash from which will be used to improve our ground in the coming years.

And, as I stood under our new roof on the concrete terrace steps, I found myself thinking back to the Crown ground of old and, in particular, the FA Cup tie against Fleetwood back in the 1990's, during which a section of scaffolding pole that was the safety barrier in front of the ash and cinders that was the Clayton end gave way under the weight of the large crowd.

If someone back then had shown me a picture of how the ground looks today, I would have laughed at the artist's impression that would never happen.

It has happened and we ARE a League team, now is the time for action.
