JOHN Coleman insists he will use appropriate action' against Lee McEvilly if he finds the Accrington Stanley striker guilty of stamping on Peterborough's Jamie Day.

McEvilly was shown a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident, just 10 minutes after coming on as second-half substitute in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Posh.

He was one of two players given their marching orders at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, with veteran Graham Branch also red-carded for two cautionable offences.

"I'll have a look at the video and if he (McEvilly) has done it, then we'll take the appropriate action," said Reds boss Coleman.

"If he has stamped on someone, then that's not aggression, it's just plain stupidity. As I say, when I see the video I'll discuss it then."

Coleman was disappointed to see Stanley caught up in more red card trouble, just weeks after the club were fined £5,000 for their poor discipline last season.

But he believes the Reds were given unfair treatment by referee Darren Drysdale, claiming the Lincolnshire official failed to hand out appropriate punishment to Posh's players.

He added: "We've worked hard to improve our discipline and I think we're going in the right direction.

"But I was disappointed today because we got a couple of players booked and yet their number six (Charlie Lee) was allowed to go around fouling people for fun.

"He never got booked and I think that was a bit unfair.

"When Robbie (Williams) gets blatantly pulled back and he waves an advantage, he didn't go back and book the lad. It defies belief really."
