Burnley Reserves 3 Blackpool Reserves 1: Two first-half goals from Rob Turner paved the way for Burnley to make it two wins out of two in the Pontin's Holiday League.

The second year apprentice broke the deadlock on 26 minutes as the Clarets again worked a blend of youth and experience on the back of last week's success at Manchester City.

Alan Mahon, one of five players who had been in action in Tuesday night's Carling Cup win over Oldham Athletic, had built the momentum with two shots in quick succession before Turner benefited from Joey Gudjonsson's diagonal ball over the top, finishing well from 25 yards just before the half-hour.

Steve Jones was the provider for Turner's second six minutes later as he beat his marker for pace down the right before whipping a cross in, and Turner looped a delightful header over Kyle Clancy.

Danny Mitcheley forced a good save from Jonathan Sergeant as Blackpool tried to hit back.

But Jones gave Burnley a strong lead to take into half-time against a young Seasiders outfit when he cut in from the right and took on two defenders before firing a left-foot shot into the bottom right corner five minutes before the break.

Ade Akinbiyi, just under 24 hours after hitting Burnley's third against the Latics, should have added a fourth on the stroke of half-time but was put off as Clancy got his fingertips to Jones's right-wing cross and Akinbiyi stabbed just wide of an empty net.

Turner was denied a hat-trick early in the second half when Clancy completed a double stop seconds after blocking Akinbiyi's close-range downwards header.

Blackpool pulled a goal back on 67 minutes through Ashton Bayliss's well struck 12-yard shot but that was all they had to show from a spirited fightback.
