Most of our local cycling clubs nowadays have their own websites but the news has not been fully circulated that the North Lancashire Time Trials Association has now also got its own site up and running.

The NLTTA was formed way back in 1928 and has a membership of over 30 clubs in this area.

Two of their officials, Steve Wilkinson of Barrowford and Vinny Riding of Blackburn, have recently brought the organisation up-to-date and thanks to them, members of the Association clubs can now access information such as updates on the Best All Rounder Competitions.

The web-site is still under construction at www.nltta.org.

Most of the better performances by East Lancs' racing cyclists over the weekend were done on courses over in Yorkshire.

Dave Metcalfe, of the Clayton Velo club, scored another good win in a veteran's 10 mile event with a time of 22mins 12 secs, which was slower than his recent 30 mph ride of 19m 56s, partly due to the course but mainly due to the high winds on Saturday.

On the same A19 road, but closer to home, Peter Greenwood ,of Burnley, was our best placed local rider in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 30-mile time-trial with a time of 1h 8m 54s, giving him sixth place whilst Dave Brown won the prize for best veteran, on age standard, with a time of 1h 15m 14s at age 69.

Very close to this event but on Sunday, Blackburn's David Hargreaves finished an excellent second in the 36-mile LVRC Brigante Road Race with only the almost unbeatable Yorkshireman Brian Sunter ahead of him at the chequered flag.

Our local weekly events are coming to an end as the darker evenings approach.

Rossendale's Jerry Peel was fastest in his own club's 10 mile at Hapton in 25m 25s with John Ealing second in 26m 18s and Adrian Watts third with 26m 37s.

The Tuesday evening event next week will be a hill climb using the Bacup side of Deerplay Moor with signing on by 6.40pm on the Deerplay Public House car park.

In the Pendle Forest 10 mile at Thornton-in-Craven, the in-form Dave Metcalfe was the winner in 21m 40s, beating the 22m 14s of Carl Pawson (Nelson Wheelers) and 23m 03s by Simon Phillips of the promoting club.
