Clitheroe improved on the midweek performance against Bamber Bridge and created several second half chances but still failed to register the first win of the season against a dogged but beatable Wakefield side.

The visitors took the lead on 18 minutes with a free header from a corner and the Blues equalised when Gary Stopforth's cross from a left wing corner was headed goalwards by Ryan Fisher and Will Exton made sure.

The Blues second half performance was much improved and the Wakefield keeper pulled off several good saves.

The visitors regained the lead when a strong right wing run finished with a great cross to the back post and the ball was looped over Peter Collinge.

Clitheroe tried to find a second equaliser but the Wakefield defence held firm to register another win that takes them to the top of the league.
