ALBANIAN international Besart Berisha could be sidelined for up to six weeks with a knee injury.

The 22-year-old summer signing sustained the problem while on international duty against Malta last week, in which he scored in a 3-0 win.

Berisha was one of five players who was ruled out of last night's Carling Cup second round win over Oldham Athletic through injury. Gabor Kiraly (deadleg), Michael Duff (abductor muscle), Jon Harley (illness), Jay Rodriguez (groin) were also missing, while Kyle Lafferty served the first of a three-match ban following a dismissal on the pre-season tour of Austria.

And such absences meant the Clarets were only able to name four substitutes.

"We had five injured tonight and one suspended," said Cotterill.

"Michael Duff tweaked his abductor muscle on Saturday in training, Jon Harley was poorly last night, so he was unavailable and Jay Rodriguez tweaked his groin on Monday. Gabor is the same injury as before and he is still struggling with that one, so we will just have to wait and see how everyone is.

"That (Berisha) could be a five or six-weeker and we need to see the specialist on that one on Thursday"
