No football side, no matter who they are, can be brilliant all the time.

What tends to separate the successful teams from the also rans is not necessarily brilliance but resiliance.

On that score, Rovers are certainly becoming a successful outfit under Mark Hughes.

Saturday's draw at Goodison, a game which Rovers should really have won, was the eleventh game in which Rovers have remained unbeaten.

Being hard to beat is a good quality but we must now try to take it to the next level, which marks out the very best and that is to get into the winning habit.

It's easier said than done, of course, and a close look at the league tables for all four divisions bears that out.

I was surprised to see that out of all 92 league sides after only three or four games, only one side has a 100 per cent record. Well done Leyton Orient!

It would be a big surprise (and massive disappointment) if Rovers' unbeaten run were to end on Thursday night against the Finns from MyPa 47.

The game in Finland was a classic example of us failing to put an inferior opponent to the sword when so much on top.

Hopefully, we can complete the task in without of course underestimating the chance of a cup shock!

I was secretly pleased we didn't draw Helsingborgs in the last round.

Sounds far too much like another Swedish team, whose very mention sends shudders down the spine of all Rovers fans and a smile to the lips of all Burnley fans.

I thought Chris Samba was once again immense in every sense of the word against Everton.

I think, like a lot of people, I was worried that the bubble might burst with big Chris.

How could someone who cost no more than Beckham's weekly wage be so good?

I've seen enough now to convince me that he's a very good player and isn't it nice to have a consistent goal threat from a central defender for a change?

When you look at what some teams are paying for players and consider that our defensive central pairing were plucked from relative obscurity for next to nothing, you start to question the whole philosophy of paying multi-millions for so called "star" players like Shevchenko and Ballack to name just two!

There was a great response on the message board to my suggestion that we look for a new Rovers song.

Some were as bizarre as the idea of Aaron Mokoena in a kilt!

More on that next week. Let's hope Man City are too blue to sing Blue Moon on Sunday and that it'll be us that never felt more like singing the blues.
