AN IMPRESSIVE last-wicket partnership of 48 between Oliver Errey (37) and Amedeo D’ppolito’s unbeaten 13 gave Feniscowles something to bowl at in the Ribblesdale League’s game of the day at Brinscall.
The visitors had been quickly reduced to 37-4 but mounted a recovery with the help of captain Jake Errey’s battling 41 to ultimately end on 164 all out, with Lee Burgess taking 3-30 and Sehan Weerasinghe 4-48.
Brinscall looked in trouble at 14-3 with two early wickets for Zuhaib Zaman, who bowled with good pace.
However, once the fourth wicket pair of Weerasinghe and Stuart Parker came together the match changed completely.
The pair put on an unbeaten 151 for the fourth wicket to see home Brinscall by seven wickets with more than 20 overs remaining.
Weerasinghe made 82 off 56 balls, with six fours and six sixes, while Parker made 61 off 57 balls, including 10 fours.
Defending champions Settle were under pressure to get back to winning ways after their Ramsbottom Cup Final defeat to Padiham, and now trying to catch leaders Oswaldtwistle.
But they continued their recent inconsistency with the bat to be bowled out for just 67. Gary Sudworth was the man in form with the remarkable figures of 6-7 off 10 overs, while Matt Griffin took 3-31.
An unbeaten second wicket partnership of 61 between Griffin (28) and Abrar Hamed (32) saw Baxenden home by nine wickets with over 30 overs to spare.
That was good news for Oswaldtwistle, who looked set for big score against Whalley at 117-1 thanks to 51 from opener Oliver Clare and 36 from Shubham Khajuria. However, Sam Sweeney (6-61) and Joel Blain (3-44) managed to restrict the score to a disappointing 175 all out.
Opener Mark Fallon made 45 to get the reply on its way but Whalley lost wickets at regular intervals.
In the other games, Ramsbottom Cup winners Padiham were beaten by Ribblesdale Wanderers after collapsing to 78 all out in reply to the visitors’ 144.
Read earned a one-wicket win in a close-fought contest at home to Barnoldswick (193 all out), with both teams enjoying late partnerships.
Euxton edged a high scoring game with Cherry Tree in a rain affected game, while Salesbury beat Earby by eight wickets.
