JOHN Coleman insists Accrington Stanley must raise their game after Saturday's poor defeat to League Two leaders Darlington.

The Reds lacked a killer edge in attack and mistakes at the back were punished in a 3-0 defeat at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

"It wasn't good enough," said the Reds boss. "I'm disappointed and I hope the lads are disappointed.

"As a club, we have come a long way and are capable of competing with sides like Darlington.

"But if defend like we did, giving silly goals away, and be wasteful in front of their goal, you are going to lose games no matter who you are playing against.

"We've got to keep up to levels that we've achieved so far this season and we were way short of that."

Coleman was disappointed in the manner his side gifted Darlington their goals, particularly Tommy Wright's opener when Reds keeper Kenny Arthur failed to gather Rob Purdie's cross.

Coleman added: "I praised Kenny for his world class save at Wycombe last week, but he has got to catch that ball."
