IF someone had said to me when I woke up yesterday morning that by tea-time Burnley would be £1million richer, I'd have thought I was still dreaming ... and that's without even mentioning a new player to boot.
Getting £1.2million for Wayne Thomas, who was signed on a free transfer two years ago, in the last year of his contract is good enterprising in a game that has ultimately also become a business.
Those kind of figures show the quality of players that Steve Cotterill is bringing in.
Spending a fraction of that and replacing him with Clarke Carlisle is even better, and with Premier League experience, he will strengthen the side.
Thomas was a decent player for Burnley and they'll be sorry to lose him, but when people offer that sort of money you've got to think about the club.
And with Carlisle coming in so soon to replace him it won't leave the Clarets short.
Right back remains an area that needs reinforcements and the manager is well aware of that.
Michael Duff played well there against West Brom last weekend, but it only needs an injury or suspension to him and we are short again.
But there are options all along the rest of the backline, and the addition of David Unsworth this week will strengthen the team, strengthen the squad and crucially strengthen the back four. He is a proven player and has played in the Premiership nearly all his career.
He is an organiser on the pitch and with his experience he will see things that perhaps other people don't see.
But the big plus for me is that he chose Burnley over other Championship clubs, and I'm sure he will have been happy with his choice after seeing last weekend's win over West Brom.
It was good to see Andy Gray get off the mark, but I feel there's a lot more to come from Robbie Blake.
By his own standards he would probably admit he didn't have a good game on Saturday, but he will get better.
The most important thing was that it was a hell of a result.
Tomorrow is a different proposition with Scunthorpe United new to the Championship. It will be all about attitude.
Steve will prepare them the same way as he did for West Brom and hopefully we can keep the run going.
