Jack Payne is open-minded about a Rovers return but admits he has no idea what the future holds for him.

The Huddersfield Town playmaker sees his loan spell at Ewood Park end after Saturday’s game with Oxford, the team he spent the first half of the season at.

He scored when the two sides met at the Kassam Stadium in November, as Rovers ran out 4-2 winners, with that game leaving a lasting impression with him, and Rovers boss Tony Mowbray.

Payne is contracted to the Terriers for another year and played 28 times for David Wagner’s men in the Championship last term.

Huddersfield have yet to secure their Premier League status and when asked if he knew what the future holds, Payne said: “Unfortunately I don’t, I have no idea at the moment.

“I’ve said many times that I enjoy it here, it’s a great club so we will see what the future holds but as it stands I have no idea.

“From my point of view I have to focus on the last game of the season and then once that is out the way we will sit down and see what Huddersfield are saying.

“I’m completely open-minded but I have really enjoyed my time here and who knows what can happen.”

On how the summer will play out for him, he added: “To be honest I don’t know 100 per cent but we will sit down and see what Huddersfield’s views are.

“We will find out what Blackburn’s plans are and go from there.

The 23-year-old is expected to make his eighth start for Rovers against Oxford at Ewood Park tomorrow with Bradley Dack injured and he has featured 17 times since joining in January.

He admits he has been made to feel welcome from the moment he made the switch to East Lancashire and praised the tight-knit Rovers dressing room.

He added: “To be honest I have felt part of it from day one, I get on well with everyone and they have made me feel really welcome.

“We have a tight-knit group here and I’ve felt so comfortable in the changing room which is unusual.

“In the past it may have taken me a bit longer but I feel like I’ve settled in really quickly which has been great for me.

“I’ve not felt like a loan player and I’ve really enjoyed it.”

Huddersfield still have two more games to play after Rovers’ season finishes, but Payne added: “When Blackburn’s season finishes so does mine and I can go away and enjoy my summer.”
