Lewis Travis believes Tony Mowbray has his best interests at heart and revealed there will be discussions over the midfielder’s development this summer.

Travis has been a stand-out performer for the Under-23s this term as they lifted the Premier League 2 Division Two title.

He has also played five times for Rovers in League One and made another five appearances in cup competitions.

The 20-year-old is one of a band of impressive Rovers youngsters who Mowbray must decide whether they remain part of the first team squad or leave on loan for further experience.

And Travis said: “We always have conversations because I have been in the gaffer’s thoughts and he has my best interests at heart.

“We’ll have a discussion and see where I can progress the most whether that be in his first-team or out on loan.”

Travis was handed his first taste of senior football since being sent off at Portsmouth in February during Saturday’s defeat at Charlton.

And he is pleased with his achievements this season.

He added: “It’s been great to get the promotion and the promotion with the Under-23s.

“If you are playing well for the Under-23s then it’s shown that you will get your chance for the first-team.

“Whether it be an injury or the gaffer thinks he’s better than what you’ve got. It’s been great.”
