LINCOLN City boss Danny Cowley was delighted to secure the loan signing of Rovers defender Scott Wharton, a player who ‘defends first’.
Wharton signed for the Imps on loan until the end of the season and will be his second spell away from Ewood Park with a League Two side.
The youngster, who has made two first-team outings for Rovers this season, played nine times while on loan at Cambridge United.
He impressed during his time at the Abbey Stadium, performances which didn’t go un-noticed with Cowley.
He told Lincolnshire Live: “We saw Scott play a lot at Cambridge last year. He did very well there. He’s a left-footed defender so he will bring balance to our defence.
“He’s a player Blackburn think an awful lot of. He’s a young centre-half with an old-fashioned style.
“Some of centre-halves nowadays want to be attackers, while Scott defends first.
“He’s incredibly brave and has that ability to see danger and put fires out.
“We’re delighted to have him with us as well.”
