DANNY Graham says Rovers’ attentions have now turned to hunting down Wigan Athletic after moving into the top two for the first time this season.

Rovers reeled in Shrewsbury Town after wiping out a five point gap with back-to-back wins.

Tony Mowbray’s side have two home games in the space of four days against Northampton Town and Walsall and, with the Latics and Shrews only in action once each during that time, Rovers will be looking to take advantage.

Richie Smallwood’s late winner at Fleetwood sent Rovers second and Graham said: “When we came in and saw ourselves in the top two it meant a lot.

“We’ve been working hard over the last few months to get into those automatic spots and now we’re there we want to make sure we stay there.

“It shows that the hard work has paid off.

“We’ve been chasing them down for a number of weeks now and we’ve got ourselves in there. We’re still five points off Wigan so we know there’s still a lot of work to do so our attention now is Wigan and we’re going to give it a good shot and hopefully catch them.”

And while promotion is Rovers’ main aim this season, Graham is setting his sights higher than second.

He added: “We want to go up and we want to go up as champions, I don’t see the point in not wanting to win the league.

“Second gets you promoted but it would be nice to win the league and if we can keep this run going, keep sticking together and pulling in the right direction then I’m sure we can hunt Wigan down.”

Rovers are currently on a 16 game unbeaten run in the league which stretches back to October.

Their last defeat came at Oldham on October 14, a result that sticks in the mind of Rovers’ experienced striker.

“I remember how down we felt after the Oldham game before we started this run and ever since then we’ve never looked back and we need to continue that,” Graham added.

“We can’t get complacent and we can’t get ahead of ourselves.

“We have Northampton on Saturday now and our focus is on that, our attentions on Monday were turned straight to that.

“We will take one game as it comes and the objective is to win each game and get back into the Championship.”

This afternoon will be Rovers’ second meeting with Northampton in the space of five weeks after a 1-1 draw at Sixfields on December 23.

That result ended Rovers’ winning run at six games, though they had chances to take all three points.

“We have two games coming up,” the 32-year-old said of today’s game with the Cobblers and the visit of Walsall on Tuesday.

“We played Northampton not so long and it was a tough game down there, we weren’t at our best.

“We could have possibly got the win and it’s going to be a tough test.

“We can’t get complacent, they will be tough games and we will need to make sure our performance is right.”
