We asked our fans' jury: “Now Rovers have finally cracked the top two for the first time this season, what would be your message to the players with 19 games to go?”

It's difficult to get to the top but it's even harder to stay there as the opposition has an added incentive to bring you crashing down to earth.

Consistency is the watchword and developing a strong spine to a settled and committed team.

Allied to this should be a squad versatile enough to compensate for injuries and suspensions and psychologically able to bounce back after an unexpected defeat.

What will, however, make or break Rover's promotion campaign is a well-drilled defence who as yet don't realise they are the crucial factor in escaping this division.

It's been a hard slog to get into the top two but now we're there it's important we don't allow complacency to set in.

I like the noises from the Ewood camp, aiming for top spot, not settling for second and that's exactly the message I'd give - we need to look ahead of us, not behind.

With the plethora of attacking quality we have in the squad I'd also ask the players to enjoy their football and express themselves as the likes of Dack, Payne and Armstrong in full flow could be a devastating prospect for League One.

Full credit to Tony Mowbray once again for what he is building here at Blackburn.

Rovers are now in a very strong position and the players just have to keep their heads and maintain focus. Richie Smallwood's late winner at Fleetwood was the latest example of the never say die attitude instilled into the players by Tony Mowbray.

The 16 game unbeaten league run doesn't look like ending anytime soon. With two home games coming up against teams in the bottom half of the table, and Wigan not playing at the weekend, Rovers can really put the pressure on.

There is confidence running throughout the team and everyone expects nothing less than six points against Northampton and Walsall.

I have no doubt that Rovers will stay in the top two for the remainder of the season. All eyes will be on catching Wigan at the top, and with the Latics still to come to Ewood, there's a chance of that becoming a reality.

But I'll settle for automatic promotion without lifting the trophy.
