WBU welterweight champion Michael Jennings admitted he was "gutted" after his next scheduled opponent Ross Minter was forced to pull out with a chest injury.
Jennings, who won the title after a comprehensive points win over Takaloo in April at the Millennium Stadium, was due to face Minter at the O2 Arena on July 14.
But now the "Chorley Lurcher" will be without a fight until at least September.
Jennings said: "It's absolutely unbelievable. I was gutted to be honest. This happened to me just before the first scheduled Takaloo and it's happened to me loads of times in my career.
"I asked them if they'd put me in for an eight-rounder, anything just to keep me ticking over, but they said they couldn't fit in into the bill."
He added: "I'd like to face Minter because he's the man I'm supposed to fight next.
"But I'm not bothered who they put me in with. I just want to keep busy, so I'm going to have a week off and then get back into it."
The 29-year-old has lost just one of 31 professional fights.
