SRI Lanka legend Sanath Jayasuriya admits he is relishing the prospect of his month at Lancashire.
The 37-year-old has arrived at Old Trafford on a short-term contract to cover Muttiah Muralitharan, who is currently involved in Sri Lanka's three-match Test series against Bangladesh. He arrives for the start of the Twenty20 campaign, which starts with Lightning facing Durham Dynamos at Old Trafford on Friday night.
Jayasuriya is only available for one County Championship match - against Yorkshire on July 8 - and has vowed to play with the trademark style which saw him take the record for the fastest international Twenty20 half-century, with his 51 off 23 balls coming against New Zealand last December.
Jayasuriya is being rested by his country but has promised he will not be taking it easy during his stint in England.
He said: "It's exciting and I'm really looking forward to playing for Lancashire.
"This form of cricket is very interesting. I've played quite a few games and I've really enjoyed it.
"I've played well and I'm looking forward to the Twenty20 games.
"It suits me because the way I've played in 50 over games or Twenty20 games shows that. It's the way I play."
