YMCA Badminton Club have continued their remarkable run of success after clinching the Blackburn and District Badminton League title for the 25th year running.
And the all-conquering YMCA team completed their eighth double after winning the Times Cup - no mean feat considering the Division One champions are heavily handicapped.
YMCA, who have not lost a league match for 10 years, beat Division Two side Whitehall to round off another successful season. It turned out to be a convincing victory - which again was impressive as Whitehall only needed to score eight and half points a game.
Club captain Helen Borrowdale said: "We have achieved the double a number of times but this one is even more special because it comes in the season we have won our 25th consecutive league title." The finals night was held at Audley Sports Centre where Independent B beat Abacus to win the Smith Cup while Roefield B were victorious in the Wilson Plate competition.
The Blackburn and District Badminton League holds its Annual General Meeting at East Lancs Cricket Club, Blackburn on Thursday, June 21 from 7.30pm.
Any teams and players wishing to join the league should contact Jean Wilson on 1254 582627 for further details.
