CRAIG McMillan toasted his return to the Lancashire League with a fine century for Nelson - although it was all in vain as Burnley came out on top to move into third place.

Batting at three, the New Zealand international star smashed 102 from 96 deliveries, a knock that included eight fours and six sixes, at Seedhill.

But Nelson were dismised for 174 in reply to Burnley's commanding 209-5, from which opener Jon Clare led the way with 77.

Leaders Rishton extended their lead at the top of the league to 18 points following a resounding 72-run victory over second-placed East Lancs at Blackburn Road.

Four players - Andy Bartley, John Seedle, Mark Leathert and Sam Hacking - all reached 30 for Rishton, helping the hosts to 182-8.

East Lancs were shot out for 110 in reply, Saeed Anwar Junior grabbing figures of 4-43, as John Seedle (3-26) and Scott Greaves (3-27) weighed in.

Todmorden came out on top in a low-scoring affair at home to Enfield.

The visitors were skittled out for a paltry 42, with not one batsman posting a double figure score.

Mo Bux was the star of the show for Todmorden, claiming 5-16, including a hat-trick.

Stuart Priestley (23 not out) and professional Francois du Plessis (11 not out) saw Todmorden home.

Lowerhouse chalked up 12 points after beating Colne by six wickets.

The visitors were dismissed for 93 at Liverpool Road, with veteran Matt Hope delivering the goods with 5-38 and pro Aaron O'Brien also grabbing 5-31. O'Brien then fired an unbeaten 37 as Lowerhouse breezed home.

Ramsbottom were indebted to fine knocks from Sunil Joshi (48) and Phil Hayes (33) as they comfortably beat Haslingden by 59 runs.

The hosts were bowled out for 138, but they were never in any danger of missing out at Acre Bottom after dismissing the visitors for 69.

In the battle of the bottom two sides, Church were the victors, ousting Accrington by 48 runs.

Bacup chalked up a 30-run success over Rawtenstall. Pro Chris Harris was star man, taking 6-39.
