Billionaire Paul Allen is not the man behind the American group reported to be lining up a takeover bid for Blackburn Rovers.
Reports in England had suggested that the Microsoft co-founder was preparing an offer for Rovers.
But Michael Nank, a spokesman for Allen's Vulcan Inc investment group, categorically denied he was involved.
He said: "Mr Allen is not interested nor involved in any kind of takeover offer for Blackburn Rovers or any other English football club."
Blackburn chairman John Williams yesterday confirmed the club were moving towards a takeover deal.
Rovers chiefs have been involved in negotiations for a number of months.
