LEICESTERSHIRE have signed Lowerhouse professional Dieter Klein until the end of next season.
The 27-year-old left-armer made his debut in Tuesday's Royal London One-Day Cup clash against Lancashire, taking two wickets.
Having also taken a five-for in a second XI outing against MCC Universities, the club have brought the South African in on a permanent deal.
Klein's first-class record in his home country is strong, with 154 wickets at 25.99 in 42 outings.
Leicestershire's elite performance director Andrew McDonald said: "Dieter comes with a good pedigree and greatly impressed when playing in our Second XI and training with us. We're delighted to have him on board to bolster our bowling roster."
Klein has taken 26 wickets in the Lancashire League this season for Lowerhouse at an average of 19.76 including a best of 5-53. He has also added 517 runs including one century.
