PAUL Mullin believes Accrington Stanley are heading in the right direction following their pre-season captures.
Stanley boss John Coleman has made three summer swoops to date, bringing in Partick Thistle goalkeeper Kenny Arthur, experienced Burton midfielder Paul Carden and Macclesfield forward John Miles.
More fresh faces are expected and veteran striker Mullin is confident Coleman will bring in more quality ahead of the new League Two term.
"Hopefully, the gaffer will be bringing in a couple more players," said Mullin.
"I know he is looking for another centre-half, and another forward player would be nice. The more competition for places, the better.
"I've been impressed with the players we've brought in.
"I remember Wayne when we played Partick Thistle on our pre-season tour and he had a very good game.
"Obviously, he's got good credentials because he was in the Scotland squad under Berti Vogts."
Mullin, 33, added: "John Miles gave us problems when he played for Macclesfield. He's a good addition and will give us a bit more creativity going forward.
"I've played against Paul Carden a few times.
"He's got a lot of experience in the Football League and the Conference.
"He's a good addition in midfield and will be a calming influence. His experience should help the likes of Andy Procter and Jay Harris in the middle."
