A LATE goal from former Burnley youngster John Cofie saw Chorley defeated in their pre-season friendly at Southport.
Cofie, who spent time in the Turf Moor youth system before moving to Manchester United, scored five minutes from time to earn the Sandgrounders the win.
Chorley fell behind in Tuesday night's clash when former Accrington Stanley striker James Gray found Jamie Allen and he fired in from close range.
Marcus Carver equalised for Matt Jansen's side from the spot nine minutes after the break after Paul Jarvis was felled and although the home side continued to create chances it was the visitors who won it when Cofie lobbed Chorley goalkeeper Sam Ashton in the closing stages.
The Magpies continue their build-up to the National League North season when they entertain Welsh Premier League outfit Airbus UK on Saturday.
Elsewhere last night, North West Counties League Premier Division side Nelson drew 1-1 at home to Bradford Park Avenue in their latest pre-season friendly.
