ROBBIE Savage will snub a £40,000 a week offer from Sheffield United to stay loyal to Blackburn Rovers.

Savage is wanted by new Blades boss Bryan Robson as his first major signing.

United were relegated in dramatic circumstances at the end of the season, and Robson wants the Rovers midfielder to spearhead a charge back to the Premiership.

Telegraph Sport understands that Robson was willing to offer Savage a three-year deal and increase his current wages to £40,000 a week.

But sources close to the player say that Savage feels he has "unfinished business" at Ewood Park, and wants to stand by his club.

The source said: "Robbie is happy where he is. He feels Rovers stood by him when he broke his leg last season.

"He feels he still has unfinished business, and has not achieved all that he wants at Blackburn. So he will be staying at Rovers."

Savage signed a one-year extension to his contract at Christmas, which will take him to 2009. He broke his leg against Watford in January, and has not played a competitive game since, although he hopes to be fit for the start of the Intertoto Cup next month.
