NELSON could do rivals Colne a favour tonight if the Admirals can take the scalp of North West Counties League Premier Division leaders Runcorn Linnets.
Colne are currently battling it out with Linnets for the league title with Linnets currently on top of the table.
But a win for Nelson at Little Wembley tonight would be greeted with Colne cheers with the Reds hot on the heels of the leaders.
For Paul Fildes' side three points would take them ahead of neighbours Padiham and into 16th spot in the table heading into the final five games of the campaign.
Nelson are not yet mathematically safe from relegation although the 12 point gap to the bottom three is surely insurmountable with games running out.
The Admirals ended their four game losing streak with a fine 5-1 win over Winsford United on Saturday and will hope to follow that up with a scalp against a Linnets side who earned a narrow 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Barnoldswick Town are also in action tonight when they welcome Ashton Athletic to the Silentnight Stadium.
A win could move Stewart Airdrie's side into the top half of the table.
Barlick have a host of games in hand on the sides around them and know a strong finish to the campaign could see them secure a top seven finish.
