AFTER a bit of a breather at the end of the season, the wheels are definitely in motion for the forthcoming campaign with a new signing and a new sponsor already on board so far.
We had to get a second goalkeeper in and Gabor Kiraly is certainly an experienced stopper.
He is seen as eccentric, whether it be for his style of play or sporting those grey tracksuit bottoms. But he will be wanting to make the goalkeeping spot his own, and the competition between him and Brian Jensen can only be a good thing. For me, it's a case of may the best man win.
So Steve Cotterill has started at the back and will now be working his way forward - in no particular order if the link to Marek Saganowski is anything to go by.
The Polish striker impressed me in his brief but prolific spell with Southampton last season. His strike-rate at a lot of the clubs he has been with is well above average. And if the figures that are being talked about are somewhere near the mark, then it is proof - if any was needed following the coalition of chairman Barry Kilby and millionaire director Brendan Flood - that Burnley are really moving in the right direction.
I have read every word of the in-depth Flood interview in this paper and it is all very positive for Burnley Football Club, there are good vibes and it seems that Steve's got plenty of backing in terms of finance and support, which hopefully makes for the beginnings of a good season.
It could be the brightest start that he has had at Burnley, and maybe in his managerial career.
The squad size has been under-strength but he has the chance to boost it now. I keep emphasising the importance of being prudent. As well as increasing the numbers, the quality must be high.
Off the field, I'm sure the chairman's more regular presence at the club on a weekly basis will have a strong enough impact on operations on its own. But with his business background and partnership with Brendan, I think they will take us all the way.
And both are massive fans of Burnley Football Club, which is the biggest plus for me.
