SEAN Dyche has told Burnley fans he won’t be at Turf Moor forever, but said he has no desire to leave yet as he aims to complete a ‘magic story’ this season.

Aston Villa have put Dyche towards the top of their wishlist to replace the sacked Remi Garde, but the Clarets chief has distanced himself from that speculation.

Instead he is focusing on securing a second promotion to the Premier League in three years, with Burnley four points clear at the top of the Championship with eight games to go heading into tomorrow’s top of the table clash with Brighton.

Indeed the Clarets could swap places with Villa next season, with the Midlands outfit staring relegation in the face.

And while Dyche admits he won’t be at Burnley for life, such are the vagaries of football, he isn’t planning on packing his bags just yet.

“I’m always open with the fans and the press, it’s not a forever story, as you find in football, it’s just not,” he said.

“As quick as you’re a hero, you are a zero, never more so than nowadays.

“Modern fans get bored with a manager’s rhetoric and need a change, but what are you changing for?

“Either I get booed off or someone comes along and you say ‘I can’t say no, I’ve got to go’.

“Only time will tell.”

During his successful spell at Turf Moor Dyche has become accustomed to being linked with other managerial vacancies.

But as the season reaches its defining stage he is in no rush to exit and is relishing the challenge of getting Burnley back into the top flight, in what he believes would be a big achievement after they lost their captain, top scorer and one of their star players in the summer in the form of Jason Shackell, Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier.

“There’s no thirst from me to be running out of here,” Dyche said of his time at Turf Moor.

“I enjoy the challenge, and that changes over time, but I’m certainly enjoying what we’re trying to achieve this season, because it would be a magic story.

“Losing your best players, and cutting your cloth, and getting other players in.”

Of the rumours of interest from Aston Villa, Dyche added: “It’s one of those situations. I’ve had a few over the last year or so. I don’t take it lightly, it’s a paper story. We know how that can work.

“We’re making a good first of what we can achieve here, that’s my focus, it’s the teams focus, we want to get Burnley in the Premier League.

“There’s a lot of things said, a lot of angles, a lot of connections over nothing. My focus is here.”
