JOHN Coleman wants to continue a pattern of scoring in every game this season, because he believes goals are their ticket to success.
Accrington Stanley host Barnet tomorrow having not drawn a blank at the Wham Stadium.
And Coleman believes maintaining those shooting standards is vital.
“If anyone is going to be successful in this league you have to score goals, as well as keeping them out the other end,” said the Reds boss.
“You have to score goals because you can’t win games if you don’t.
“We still feel as though we should be scoring more for the ratio of chances that we’re creating.
“The worrying time is when we don’t get the chances. At least they’re coming and we took a fair proportion the other night.
“We’re greedy, we want to take more."
Stanley are set to be boosted by the return of Shay McCartan from suspension.
The young Irishman responded to breaking into the starting XI with three goals in two games against Hartlepool and Exeter.
And with defender Tom Davies available too, and Dean Winnard, Terry Gornell and Josh Windass well on the road to recovery from injury, Coleman is looking forward to a selection headache.
“We get Shay back and Tom back and in a few weeks’ time I’d expect Dean Winnard, Terry Gornell and Josh Windass pushing for places as well,” he said.
“Without blinking you’ve got nearly half a team who are back and can strengthen, and we’re going to need that for the run-in.
“It’s not so much having to leave players out, you’ve just got to pick the team that you think is right on the day. That might be leaving them in or leaving them out.
“We’ve got a good squad and we’ve got a good team spirit and we’ve got to rally round each other. The ones who don’t get picked, the ones who don’t get picked as a sub have still got to rally round the lads and get to where we all want to be, which is promoted at the end of the season."
