A TRIO of East Lancashire clubs will attempt to progress to the FA Cup first qualifying round this weekend.

Padiham make a swift return to West Yorkshire to take on North West Counties League Premier Division rivals Silsden tomorrow (3pm).

The Roses rivals met in the league in midweek with Silsden running out 3-2 winners at their Keighley Road home.

Colne will also travel to Yorkshire tomorrow to take on Tadcaster Albion (3pm).

And on Sunday Clitheroe make their way to North Yorkshire to face Pickering Town (3pm).

Elsewhere, improving Chorley have been handed a boost going into tomorrow’s Vanarama National League North clash at home to Harrogate Town (3pm).

Midfielder Andy Bond has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with the Magpies.

Bond, who only arrived at Victory Park a few weeks ago following his summer release from League Two outfit Stevenage, had been attracting interest from Football League and Vanarama National League clubs.

But he has turned down the opportunity to play at a higher level by committing himself to a Chorley side who will be looking to make it three wins on the spin tomorrow.

Ramsbottom United are at home to Frickley Athletic (3pm).

The Rams picked up their first point of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division season on Wednesday night when they drew 1-1 at Whitby Town.

New signing Max Harrop put Jon Robinson’s side in front but they were later pegged back by a Whitby team who finished the match with striker Jason Blackburn in goal after keeper Shane Bland went off injured.

In the North West Counties League Premier Division tomorrow, table-topping Barnoldswick Town welcome Squires Gate to the Silentnight Stadium (3pm).

At the other end of the table newly-promoted AFC Darwen will hope to pick up their first three points of the campaign when they host West Didsbury & Chorlton (3pm).

Nelson, meanwhile, will attempt to make it three triumphs on the trot when they entertain Ashton Athletic (3pm).

Bacup Borough are still waiting for their first win in the First Division but they have the chance to get off the mark tomorrow at home to Northwich Manchester Villa (3pm).
