CLITHEROE maintained their grip on the Ribblesdale League with a four-run victory over Cherry Tree.
Paul Gaskell’s side made 178 batting first at Chatburn Road and held their nerve to win a thriller. The visitors, lying fifth in Section A, needed 30 off the last three overs but they could only reach 174-7.
Read and Settle stay hot on their heels after carving out wins of their own on Saturday.
Read bowled out bottom side Earby for 146, thanks to Andrew Rushton’s 5-32.
Settle also completed a comfortable victory despite limping to 154-9 batting first against Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.
Asif Fazal top-scored for the Yorkshire side as he made 64, while Niall Heyes impressed with the ball for the visitors, taking 5-39.
Oswaldtwistle never really got going in the chase and were bowled out for 120.
Whalley remain in a relegation battle after being thumped by Great Harwood in the final game in Section A.
Great Harwood made 189 before bowling out Whalley for 125, Geoff Allen taking 6-41.
In Section B, Padiham remain in promotion contention after a tight victory over Brinscall.
Nathan Whitehead starred with the ball for second-placed Padiham as he took 7-32, the home side skittled for 125.
But the chase proved far from easy for Padiham and they crawled over the line with two wickets to spare after Lehann Jansen van Rensburg had taken 5-51.
Leaders Euxton were stunned by bottom side Edenfield. Visitors Euxton batted first and made 154-3. But Edenfield got home with five wickets to spare thanks to Adam Barnes’ 64.
Third-placed Salesbury were beaten in the highest-scoring game of the weekend, Barnoldswick securing a 19-run victory.
Barlick made 274-5 thanks mainly 119 from Abdul Saddique and 93 from Kyle Marshall. Salesbury were bowled out for 256. James Watson made 70 and Joe Rawlinson 59. Jordan Howarth-Hynes took 5-70.
Ryan Canning scored an unbeaten 60 as Ribblesdale Wanderers posted a six-wicket win over Brooksbottom who made 143.
