BURNLEY have won their second trophy of the season and are still in contention for two more as they thrashed Rawtenstall by 66 runs at the Worswick Memorial Ground in the T20 Final, writes MATTHEW JONES.

Burnley won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Vishal Tripathi (4) was soon out as he was trapped by Joe McCluskie with the score on nine.

Professional Chris Holt and David Brown then put on 93, before Holt was bowled by Imran Abid (1-24) for 39.

David was then joined by brother Michael, the pair added 39 until Michael was caught by Dan Barlow off Rizwan Shafiq for 18. Michael Kelly then came to crease and the score moved to 160 when man of the match Brown was run out for 82.

His knock came off 51 balls and contained a dozen fours and two sixes. Gus Whitehead (0) was then run out with the score on 160.

Kelly (6 not out) and Waseem Furqan (6 not out) put on a unbeaten 11 as Burnley posted 171-5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, captain Bharat Tripathi (3-22), Chris Holt (3-19) and Vishal Tripathi (3-26) starred as Rawtenstall were bowled out for 105 in 17 overs.

Tripathi picked up two wickets in the third over as he sent back Chris Cook Martin (3) and professional Brett Pelser to a golden duck to leave the hosts 9-2.

McCluskie then added 28 with Sam Kershaw, before Kershaw fell leg before to professional Holt for 13. McCluskie who top scored with 29 before he was bowled by Vishal Tripathi who then accounted for Matt Kershaw (2) and Dan Barlow, who had who previously hit two sixes of the off spinner, for 20 as Rawtenstall fell to 81-6.

Nick Payne (6) was the next man to depart - caught by Michael Kelly off Bharat Tripathi who finished with 14 wickets in the T20 campaign.

Jhangir Liaqat then bowled Shafiq with the hosts staring defeat in the face on 101-8.. Holt picked up the last two wickets of Andy Riley and Dan Whittle to cap a fine Burnley win.
