And on Sunday Burnley are away at Ribblesdale League title challengers Clitheroe in the quarter-finals of the LCB Knockout.

With a Worsley Cup final against Nelson to come next month a hat-trick of weekend wins would move Burnley closer to a place in history.

“It’s definitely on,” said Burnley professional Chris Holt.

“This is the best amateur team I have ever played in and we just want to keep winning every game.

“It’s great to be in the Twenty20 final.

“We haven’t won it for a few years and it’s a competition we wanted to do well in when the season started.

“We know it will be a tough game at Rawtenstall. They are a very good side but we believe we can win it.

“We have a very talented squad and there is always someone who can win us the match.”

Burnley booked their place in the final with a thumping win over Enfield in the last four and Holt believes two of the heroes from that tie, blockbuster batsman Steve Brunt and pace ace Cole Hayman, can play a part in tonight’s final.

“I think Steve is averaging more than 100 in the T20 this season because he never gets out,” said Holt.

“He took 34 off the last over in the semi-final and is just in great form.

“Cole has been brilliant for us as well. He probably doesn’t get as many wickets as he deserves but he is a real winner and has a fantastic attitude and I think that rubs off on the other players.”
