DARWEN have the Northern League summit in their sights as they host Lancaster tomorrow.
The Towers have been in fine form in recent weeks and are up to second place in the table, six points behind leaders Morecambe.
MORE TOP STORIES:
Jordan Clarke’s side have lost only one of their last four league matches and completed a double-header win over Kendal last weekend to move up to second.
They will be fancied to beat a Lancaster side who are towards the wrong end of the table and currently sit ninth.
Should Darwen take maximum points they could be sitting on top of the table come tomorrow night but they will need a helping hand from neighbours Chorley.
Andrew Holdsworth’s side still harbour hopes of claiming the title although last weekend’s defeat to Lancaster has left them in fifth spot, 24 points off the pace.
But Chorley travel to leaders Morecambe this weekend and a win would certainly re-ignite their title bid while at the same time boosting Darwen’s chances.
Elsewhere, third placed Fleetwood host Leyland while Blackpool, in fourth, entertain Barrow in a match being played at Penrith.
Bottom of the table Preston are at home to Kendal while Netherfield host St Annes.
