SPIRITED Bacup put a severe dent into Salford's promotion hopes.
Chances were at a premium in the first half but Bacup were unlucky not to have taken the lead when Simon Heaton spotted the Salford keeper Andy Moores off his line but his clever chip went agonisingly just over.
But it was City who took the lead as Tunji Moses nicked the ball away from a stretching Karl Stanley and he sprinted clear to place his shot past Billy Carrington.
Bacup boss Brent Peters shuffled his pack at the break but it looked as if it wasn't to be their day as Stanley's chip hit the bar and almost crossed the line.
But 10 minutes from time, Bacup got their just deserts when Martin Peters found Chris Greenwood, who laid the ball into the path of veteran Striker Tony Carroll, who made no mistake.
