BILAWAL Bhatti made an instant impression on the Lancashire League as he played a spellbinding role in the highest score recorded in the competition at Todmorden's Centre Vale.
Debutant Bhatti plundered 188 off just 115 balls in a knock that included a phenomenal 16 fours and 12 sixes as Todmorden made 320-5, a record score at the home side's ground.
The Pakistan professional then took 4-45 as Enfield were bowled out for 223 handing the home side a 97-run success.
Todmorden skipper Andrew Sutcliffe, who made 35, admitted he was staggered by his paid man's contribution.
He told the league's website: "Watching Bilawal was a pleasure, it's great to have a player of his calibre as professional at Todmorden and we hope we see more days like this throughout the summer.
"He hit 12 sixes and some were huge, he's a great lad who gives everything on the field. Debuts do not get better than that."
The knock came just two days after he was dismissed for just one as Todmorden were bowled out for just 68 in a Moorhouses T20 defeat to East Lancashire.
But the Pakistan A man responded in fine fashion in the Sunday sunshine.
He entered the fray with Tod 25-2 and together with Simon Newbitt (53) the pair put on 121 before Newbitt was dismissed.
Skipper Sutcliffe then joined Bhatti at the crease and the duo put on 141 for the fourth wicket with Bhatti sending six after six onto the school roof.
It came as a surprise when he was dismissed with score on 287 - pushing a Liam Jackson delivery to Graeme van Buuren.
The wicket meant Bhatti was just 12 runs short of Australian Michael Clarke's league record, also made against Enfield, in 2002.
Enfield pro van Buuren won't want to look too closely at his figures as he finished with 0-105 off 13 overs. Jackson was the pick with 3-91.
