STEVE Cotterill insists Burnley's Championship campaign is 'not over' as they strive to go one better than last season.

The in-form Clarets cross the Pennines this afternoon knowing that a victory over fierce rivals Leeds United will mathematically ensure their league status for next term.

Furthermore, a War of the Roses win at Elland Road would see Burnley equal last season's tally of 54 points.

There will be no quarter given as Clarets boss Cotterill goes head-to-head against Leeds counterpart Dennis Wise, both of whom were team-mates at Wimbledon during the Dons' Crazy Gang' era of the late 1980's.

And on the back of three successive victories and four clean sheets, Cotterill is in buoyant mood ahead of their Yorkshire trip.

"We can certainly go into it more relaxed than we were 10 days ago," said Cotterill.

"Having said that, we won't be that relaxed. It's still another game and it's another game we want to do well in.

"We obviously want to finish the season well.

"Had the season finished today, we would say we've finished well.

"But we have an opportunity to finish the season even better than what we've done, not just thinking that it's over."

Cotterill added: "At this moment in time, we are just interested in keeping our good run going. It's game by game at this moment in time.

"We are in a decent bit of form, results wise as well.

"There's been a big relief and a big upturn in everyone's fortunes.

"One more win betters last season, which is strange really after you think of what's gone on.

"It just goes to show what a good start we had.

"And we want to better last season.

"That will certainly be our aim, without putting too much pressure on the players than what I would expect between now and the end of the season, in terms of points."
