HASLINGDEN’S Tom Carne had a lucky escape as he narrowly avoided a pile-up during the latest round of the National Superstock 600 Championship.
The race took place as part of the World Superbike Championship weekend at Donington Park and Carne qualified in 17th position at the Leicestershire circuit.
He then was a whisker away from being taken out during a pile-up in the race, which was halted early by a red flag.
The 21-year-old, was officially recorded in 11th place as Mason Low continued his impressive form to claim victory and extend his lead in the overall standings.
Benjamin Currie was second with Dan Stamper rounding out the podium positions.
Carne picked up five points for 11th place to lift him to 20 overall.
He now sits in 12th place in the championship standings having taken 10 points at the Oulton Park meeting at the beginning of the month.
The East Lancashire ace will be hoping for another impressive showing when the series moves onto Snetterton for round five on June 19.
Both races in the World Superbike Championship at Donington Park were won by Huddersfield’s Tom Sykes.
