BURNLEY continue to set the pace at the top of the Lancashire League after making light work of East Lancashire at The MyProtein Turf Moor.

In a match restricted to 25 overs, East Lancashire could only manage 110-8 thanks to some impressive bowling - with Jhangir Liaqat (3-29) and Cole Hayman (3-23) the stand-out contributors.

Professional Chris Holt took 2-36 while Mo Bhada top scored with 36 for the visitors.

In reply Vishal Tripathi went for just 10, dismissed by Shahrukh Khan with the score 23 but Holt (36) and David Brown took the game away from East Lancs.

Brown finished unbeaten on 41 with an innings that included five fours and two sixes.

It means after six matches, Burnley are 11 points clear at the top as Ramsbottom lost while Lowerhouse’s match at Rishton was rained off.

Ramsbotttom remain in third place despite a narrow seven run home defeat to Rawtenstall who have climbed up to fifth place.

Batting first, Rawtenstall made 167-4 with Chris Cook-Martin (64) top scoring while their was a handy contribution for 45 from Sam Kershaw while professional Brett Pelser an unbeaten 20.

Pelser then took 3-39 to help restrict Ramsbottom to 160-7 - Callum Kay top scored with 57 while paid man Daryn Smit made 42.

In another match effected by the weather, Todmorden beat Church by 23 runs at Centre Vale in a 27 overs a-side match.

Batting first, Todmorden reached 157-6 off their allotted overs. Opener Simon Newbitt top scored a half century - including four fours and three sixes - before he caught by Josh Scully off Kamran Basharat.

Kristian Garland made a handy 31, and a tidy stand of 28 between skipper Andrew Sutcliffe (15 not out) and Freddie Priestley (14 not out) took the home side over the 150 mark.

Andrew Sutcliffe then took 4-26, picking up Church professional Usman Tariq (31), Holt (23), Joel Gaskill (15) and Sam Tucker (9) as Church finished on 134-6.

Greg Jones scored 95 in Enfield’s total of 213-4 who then dismissed Colne for just 83 with Liam Jackson taking 5-23.

And Accrington dismal start continued as lost at Nelson by 48 runs.

Batting first, Nelson scored 170 in a 48 overs a-side game - the impressive Russell Bradley smacking six fours in his rapid knock of 48 while professional Keshav Maharaj made 24.

Accrington professional Ockert Erasmus took 5-44 and David Ormerod 4-19 but a total of 41 extras proved costly for the visitors.

In reply, only Jacob Clarke managed to trouble the Nelson bowlers, scoring an impressive 31 as Maharaj finsihed with 5-28 from 17 overs.

Bacup and Haslingden was a wash-out.
