ADAM Morgan is aiming to pick up his British Touring Car Championship career exactly where he left it last season.
The Blackburn racer chalked up his first win in the series on the last round of the season at Brands Hatch, and the experience has left him wanting more.
MORE TOP STORIES:
Morgan is back at the Kent track this weekend for the opening round looking to stand on the top of podium again.
“It was a fantastic feeling to get my first BTCC win, and I know I can get more this year,” said Morgan.
“This is our second season with the Mercedes A-Class and the experience we have from 2014 and the development work we have done over the winter means we have the potential to be regular top five finishers.
“Since WIX came on board as sponsors it has taken our involvement to another level. Our Ciceley Motorsport team started out with eight people, we now have 21 staff. Every race weekend we entertain 100 plus corporate guests, so the pressure is on me to perform.”
And Morgan has discovered a cup of tea is the key to going quick in qualifying.
“Because the grid is so tightly packed, a tenth of a second can make the difference between the front end of the grid and the back end,” added the 26-year-old.
“So I’ve starting having a cup of tea with seven sugars in it 30 minutes before qualifying starts. By the time the lights go green, the sugar rush is starting to work and I’m really on it.”
And Morgan has the added bonus of a new team-mate for 2015, with Ciceley building a Mercedes A Class for Scottish youngster Aiden Moffett.
Moffett will run the car in the affiliated Laser Tools team, sharing technical information and development with Morgan.
“It’s great to have Aiden as a team-mate. It means we get, in effect, twice the amount of testing, twice the development and twice the feedback.
“That is a big step forward for both of us as we take on the big teams, who all run two cars.”
