Burnley 0 Ashton-under-Lyne 34
BURNLEY were sunk by play-off hopefuls Ashton-under-Lyne at Holden Road.
The visitors outmuscled a young home side in a display of brute force and slick passing.
Trailing from two early scores, Burnley never forged their way into the contest, although several of Burnley’s up and coming prospects showed real promise for the future against durable opponents.
Outside half Nick Roberts, in particular, was dangerous on the ball and while the Burnley back line never gave up, they struggled to get any ball against one of the best packs in the league.
Burnley have secured a top eight finish in North Lancashire Division One, and have one remaining fixture to play, a visit to Birchfield on April 11.
- There’s a derby cracker on Good Friday when Burnley U24s take on Blackburn U24s at Holden Road (2pm).
