ACCRINGTON Stanley are without a win in seven games after suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to play-off chasing Newport County.
There was little of note in a goalless first half.
But a mistake by Reds goalkeeper Scott Davies gave Newport the advantage in the 66th minute.
There seemed to be little danger with Max Poter's delivery, but County's top scorer Aaron O'Connor came from nowhere to unsettle Davies and the ball squirmed through the on-loan keeper and into the net.
There were chances for Stanley to equalise, with Sean Maguire going close on his return from international duty with the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, Josh Windass and Terry Gornell.
But Shaun Jeffers doubled Newport's advantage and put the result beyond doubt with a laste minute sucker-punch.
