But junior rally driver Tommi Meadows drew a blank after going out on the second stage with a broken driveshaft.

Meadows was hoping to bounce back from a mistake on his first rally of the Junior 1000 Champion-ship, which cost him and co-driver Ian Oakey a podium position.

A promising first stage left the crew once again battling for a top three place in the championship, but it all went wrong on the very next test.

“It’s been a weekend I want to forget if I’m honest,’ said Meadows.

“I must thank my dad, Martin, Gordon from Proflex and Mick from A-Frame for fixing the car so that I could get some more experience in the last few stages.”

Although unable to continue in the main rally and score championship points, the 15-year-old managed to get some valuable mileage under his belt on the last few stages thanks to the support from his service crew.

The event was organised jointly by Pendle DMC and Garstang and Preston MC.

“It was great day, and I’d like to thank everyone for making the day go so brilliantly,” said Rod Brereton, chairman of Pendle DMC.
