PEEL Park will represent Hyndburn in the Lancashire School Games after they proved they were ‘untouchable’ in the borough tag rugby competition.
The talented team underlined their class by retaining the title after running in seven tries against St Bartholomew’s in the final.
Huncoat finished third after narrowly beating St Charles 4-3.
The annual event was held at Accrington Academy, and included 14 teams from across the borough.
Teams were split in to four groups with the winners and runners-up progressing to the knockout stages.
Peel Park topped GroupA after winning three and drawing one game with Huncoat in secon d place.
In Group B West End won 3 and drew 1 to earn their place in the quarter finals alongside St Mary Magdalene. Group C saw St Bartholomew’s and St Charles progress with St Marys Oswaldtwistle and Benjamin Hargreaves the top teams in Group D.
All four quarter finals were close affairs but it was Peel Park A who progressed to play St Charles in the first semi final and St Bartholomew’s who played Huncoat in the second semi final.
After two tense semi finals,, where all four teams really stepped up to the mark, it was Peel Park and St Bartholomew’s who went into the final.
