Craven Heifer 3 Boars Head 1 (Craven won 3-1 AET)
HOT-shot Chris Quinton rescued Craven Heifer with a late, late show to help claim the Burnley Miners Sunday League Division One Cup.
Opponents Boars Head had looked on course for a shock win until Quinton pounced with a minute left of normal time.
Then Craven wrapped it up – with Jack Fairburn and Tom Boyle on target.
Boars Head had stunned their opponents when Simon Mitchell struck after 20 minutes the preserved their lead when keeper Andrew Mitchell produced a superb save to keep out Matt Murray’s penalty.
Boars Head were forced to defend in the second half and just when it looked they would hold out to claim the silverware, Quinton broke their hearts with his late leveller.
And when Fairburn struck early on in the first period of extra time, the writing was on the wall.
Boyle then made sure for Craven Heifer, shooting into an empty net.
The League Cup final was kindly sponsored by Fixings North West.
