Jason Steele 6
Had no chance with Matt Kilgallon’s own goal but made a fine finger-tip save to prevent Joao Teixeira from doubling Brighton’s advantage
Adam Henley 7
Can go away with Wales on the back of another solid showing, his performances of late have made the right-back position his to lose going forward
Alex Baptiste 7
While some of his passing was wayward he was Rovers’ best defender, making the most interceptions and clearances
Matt Kilgallon 6
Barely put a foot wrong since January but it has been a tough couple of games for the stand-in skipper, with his own goal the difference here
Markus Olsson 7
Rovers’ player of the season so far was also their best here and, after being pushed forward, forced David Stockdale into a superb save
Chris Taylor 5
Deserved to keep his place after impressing in midweek but, after taking a whack, could have no complaints about being taken off
Jay Spearing 5
His passing early on was woeful but he was not alone and he did improve as the game wore on, getting stuck into the Brighton midfield
Tom Cairney 5
Far from his best but, along with Olsson, was Rovers’ most creative player, setting up Kilgallon and Rhodes for second-half chances
Ben Marshall 5
Kept the ball well and forced Stockdale into a decent stop but is struggling to match his blistering from the first half of the campaign
Jordan Rhodes 5
Desperately unlucky to see his near-post header pushed on to the post by Stockdale but should have done better after Kilgallon played him in
Chris Brown 5
Never looked like breaking his duck for the club and, while not alone in having a first half to forget, Gestede was more of a threat
Subs: Rudy Gestede for Brown (54) Tommy Spurr for Taylor (54)
Subs not used: Simon Eastwood, Lee Williamson, Yann Songo’o, Darragh Lenihan, Connor Mahoney.
