BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche played down suggestions that Tom Heaton could be drafted into the England squad after Southampton’s Fraser Forster was stretchered off this afternoon.
Forster went down with what looked to be a serious knee injury during Southampton's 2-0 win over Burnley and was quickly taken to hospital.
Southampton boss Ronald Koeman admitted that it is looking highly likely that Forster will now have to withdraw from the England squad for their upcoming games with Lithuania and Italy.
That leaves only Joe Hart in the squad, with Jack Butland set to link up after featuring for the under 21s.
England boss Roy Hodgson would be likely to draft another keeper in the squad, although Dyche does not expect Heaton to be next in line.
Rob Green and John Ruddy could be among those also in contention.
“I think when there are a few injuries there are a few internet stories,” Dyche said.
“It’s not that he isn’t a fine keeper, because he is, a couple are just in front of him at the moment.
“I hope their keeper (Forster) is okay, it always seems worse when no-one is round him and involved.”
