PLAYING Danny Ings, Sam Vokes and Ashley Barnes together against Manchester City was a masterstroke and I wouldn’t be surprised if that was a line-up for the rest of the season.

All three put in a great performance to earn a fantastic 1-0 win.

I had a great day on Saturday with the Clarets registering that victory. I got the job of meeting a party of Clarets and City fans at Nino’s Restaurant and taking them down to Turf Moor.

I told a few tales from the past and two City fans who just happened to be priests said a little prayer for the Burnley side on the way to the ground, adding that we had no chance.

Well, we did the business and a fabulous strike from George Boyd saw us collect the three points.

I was sat with the legend Ian Britton and we both agreed that the result was well and truly justified and that the man of the match was definitely Boyd. It was a super strike from him to win it.

You always need a put of luck in these high tempo fixtures and we had ours when Ben Mee took out Pablo Zabaleta.

That was in injury time and I was amazed when no penalty was given.

It was a massive win for the team and the manager must have been very pleased with his performance against the billionaire champions.

Make no mistake this was a solid performance from the whole team.

I want to give special mention to Jason Shackell who was outstanding. Michael Duff was brought back into the team to play alongside him and the way the two of them performed together gives me confidence that we will stay in the Premier League next season.

Without a doubt this was the greatest performance of the season from the Clarets and a very well deserved three points.

Now I hope the two City-supporting priests, who were from Rawtenstall, will have a word with the man upstairs and ensure that survival is overseen.
