MATT Taylor has expressed his delight after completing his first 90 minutes since returning from Achilles surgery – with new boy Fredrik Ulvestad also featuring in Burnley’s development squad draw with Hull City.

The Clarets faced Hull at Gawthorpe yesterday afternoon and Taylor made his third appearance for the development squad on his return from an Achilles injury, which had ruled him out since August.

The former West Ham United winger had played 45 minutes and 70 minutes in his first two matches and could now be in contention for a first-team return after completing the full match against Hull.

Taylor tweeted afterwards: “That felt good!”

The match also saw Ulvestad complete 90 minutes after joining Burnley on a three-year deal last week.

Ulvestad was not in the Clarets squad for Saturday’s Premier League victory over Manchester City, with boss Sean Dyche saying that the Norwegian would need time to adapt to English football.

Marvin Sordell put the Clarets’ development squad ahead yesterday with a low drive on the turn eight minutes before half time after collecting a pass from Taylor.

But Yannick Sagbo levelled with 10 minutes remaining to earn Hull a 1-1 draw.

The Tigers named an experienced team including goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, defenders Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa and Liam Rosenior, midfielder Stephen Quinn and striker Sagbo and Sone Aluko.

The Clarets side was otherwise made up of young players and Steven Hewitt fired over from 25 yards before Sordell’s opener.

Sagbo headed home from Aluko’s free kick late on.
