DANNY Ings, Charlie Austin and Harry Kane will all be keeping a close eye on their phones tomorrow lunchtime as Roy Hodgson announces his latest England squad.

All three players have earned praise for Hodgson in recent times for their performances at club level and each of them has been tipped at one point or another for a call-up.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche said after the Clarets’ match at Manchester United last month that he felt Ings was now ready for the step up to the full England squad.

“People are making noises about England call-ups, and I’ve played it down a little bit,” Dyche said after Ings netted his fifth goal in six matches.

“But the way he’s playing at the moment, absolutely, I can see that.”

A senior England call-up would probably boost Ings’ value in the summer when a fee for his likely Clarets exit could be set by a tribunal.

Ings’ form has come to the attention of Hodgson, who said last month: “Ings has impressed me.

“I think we need to keep an eye on him.”

But the England boss spoke at greater length about Kane and it is the Tottenham striker who seems more likely to get his first call-up to the senior squad tomorrow, for a Euro 2016 qualifier at home to Lithuania and a friendly against Italy.

Ings has not scored in four games since his header at Old Trafford and has nine goals in total this season. Kane now has 26 goals this term and has made it almost impossible for Hodgson to leave him out.

Established strikers Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck are also expected to get the nod.

Former Clarets forward Austin is also in contention after netting 15 times this season for QPR, although he has scored only three goals in his last 11 matches.

Saido Berahino was named in England’s squad to face Slovenia and Scotland in November, but he was an unused substitute in both games.

The West Bromwich Albion striker has 18 goals this season and has notched four in his last seven matches.

Berahino has also been invited to play for Burundi, the country of his birth.

Ings is expected to be named in Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 squad tomorrow afternoon if he misses out on a senior call.

The Burnley man has four goals in seven appearances for the under 21s, who travel to face the Czech Republic in Prague on March 27 before hosting Germany in Middlesbrough three days later.
